Altered Checks and Regulation CC Presumption of Alteration

A presenting bank makes a warranty to a paying bank in the UCC presentment warranties that the check is not altered. This session will cover the definition of alteration and the responsibilities of the presenting/depositary bank when it has presented an altered check. When a paying bank and a BOFD have a dispute as to whether a presented check is altered or a counterfeit/forgery, Regulation CC provides the Presumption of Alteration.
